MAD… no sad! err… mad?

Sometimes life is overwhelming… and if this day isn’t – my heart certainly feels like it is.

This book has been a big help!

It is brilliant -

Mercer Mayer will never  know how much thi critter influenced how I respond to life.

I recently told some one that anger and sarcasm are far too eager to be my friends when I am sad -

So I would rather be mad because sad is harder to deal with – then sometimes my responses are short and unkind.

My mom always told me what Ravi Zacharias said,

“There is never any reason to be unkind.”

I know she’s right, but somedays its just so difficult.

Lord, please help me to be kind. Amen

4 things for Certain and for Sure

Some days

When I start to get stressed or anxious

I realize that most of the time its over things I don’t know

I don’t know the future. I don’t know how… I don’t know when…

So I remind myself of the things I do know – and for some

1 – God is Good!

2 – People are far more interesting than they think they are.

3 – Life is meant to be enjoyed

And

4 – I am loved

What do you know? For certain and for sure?

May Day! May Day!!!

This ought not to be a day for strikes and rioting – even though that’s what alot of people in Seattle seem to think.

It should be a day for fun and flowers, for feasting and friends.

The Origin of the Holiday

Now that you know – spread the love and give someone some flowers or flours :)

Dreams like Dandelion Puffs

You have no idea how many dreams have made their way to the front of my heart this year and then I’ve had to watch them float, blow, run, fall, and fade away.

Dandelions Puffs are like dreams…

They are Beautiful.

Fragile.

Mysterious.

Often Unwanted.

Persistent.

Powerful.

Often inconvenient.

Like a Dandelion Puff they are only nice to look at unless you take action.

Yes… they fly off… but some take root and flower and make possible more dreams.

So take a deep breath… and let it all out.

Trust.

The Lord will take care of the dreams that fly away.

The Last people to see “The Hunger Games” Movie

My best friend and I were possibly the last two people to see this movie but we finally did!

After losing 5 days to the books (while working full-time), I had to see the film.

For those of us who had read the books, it was not a disappointment. However, it went too fast and left out some details I thought would’ve been hard to catch had one not read the books.

My favorite was the character – Haymitch!

He seemed to play the closest to his book character.

Like the books… it is not meant for kids!

Literary Influences on the Hunger Games

I’ve been pondering

And without asking the author out right – here are a few of my suspicions

Lois Lowry’s Classic

Visit this Blog -> Literary Treats for more

If you haven’t read it yet – add it to your list!

Niccolò Machiavelli’s

Katniss struggles with the battle of fear and love and the same way Machiavelli says a prince must conquer, and realize it is better to be feared. Katniss also battles the inner struggle of acting merely out of necessity rather than love or honor.

The Great Story of Robin Hood

For the obvious reasons.

Cult Fiction Series

ImageImage

Image

These series are the top fiction series over the last decade! (At least in my opinion)

They have their own cult following – accessories, fan clubs, and even theme parks!

All of these books* have certain elements in common:

- They adult themed books disguised as youth fiction

- The authors wrote in the Pringles Chips Fashion – once your start you can’t stop!

- The Movies have and will make alot of money

- Rowling, Meyer, and Collins weren’t a big deal before these books

- All have moral and ethical controversial issues worth talking about

- And some of them are definitely better than others! (I prefer the Hunger Games.)

What’s coming next?

Which series will be this summer’s reading frenzy!

*Confession – Out of these books – I’ve only read 1 Harry Potter Book and the Hunger Games Trilogy
