Tomorrow is the second Sunday in Advent and we light the Bethlehem Candle. So I thought you’d appreciate being a bit more informed as to why a little town in the middle of no-where is so important that it has its own candle in the advent wreath.
“Bethlehem” means ‘house of bread.’ Bethlehem is an inconsequential town with a bunch of shepherds with little claim to fame other than a Child was born and He saved the world.
Bread is the universal representation of the base level need – Everyone needs to eat. Pontification – Through the House of Bread came the means for everyone to be satisfied.
(Even though the sign is welcoming you to Bethlehem, Wales, it suited my purpose!)
So as you’re preparing to drive places for the holidays and visit people you love – eat some bread, think about what it means to be satisfied, and drive carefully.
